Where to Spend the Rest of Your 2026 Testing Conference Budget
AutomationSTAR Antwerp, Dutch Testing Day, a touring Test Automation Summit series, what's left on the 2026 software testing calendar, and which ones are worth the airfare.
Training budgets that reset in Q3 usually get spent on whichever conference emails hardest in September. Resist that. The back half of 2026 has more QA-specific events on the calendar than almost any year before it: two big European dates, a touring regional summit series, and on-demand libraries that cost nothing but time.
EuroSTAR's Oslo edition has come and gone
Europe's largest testing gathering is already in the rear-view mirror. The 2026 EuroSTAR Software Testing Conference took place at Oslo, Norway, 15-18 June 2026. It has run since 1993 as a sister event to the US STAR conferences, and European QA leads still treat it as the yardstick for everything else on the circuit. If your team went, circulate the takeaways internally now, before the next planning cycle swallows them. If not, recordings and write-ups usually surface on the EuroSTAR blog and LinkedIn within a few weeks.
Test Automation Days hit its 15th edition in March
The Netherlands got its automation fix early. The two day program of Test Automation Days 2026 was held on March 4 and 5 in Hilversum, The Netherlands, and the theme of the 15th edition was The Impact of Test Automation. Day one skewed heavily toward masterclasses, hands-on time with tools and frameworks instead of keynote-and-slides, which matters if your testers learn by doing rather than by listening.
Still ahead: Antwerp and Amersfoort
Two European dates remain. AutomationSTAR 2026 runs in Antwerp, Belgium, on November 4-5, 2026, still billed as the European Test Automation Conference and still run by the EuroSTAR team, with sessions on (cite index="5-1">Playwright, Selenium, Test Automation Frameworks, and Performance Testing among other topics. Five days earlier, Dutch Testing Day 2026 takes place in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, on October 30, 2026. Two countries, one week. If you can only fund one flight this year, that's the week to buy it in.
The touring summit model keeps expanding
Not every team can justify a long-haul trip. TestingMind's Test Automation Summit series has been touring cities including Melbourne, Singapore, Toronto, Sydney, Auckland, Johannesburg and Istanbul across 2026, cheaper tickets, shorter journeys, local communities in the room. Read the expansion as a bet: organizers think spread-out regional attendance beats one annual mega-event.
On-demand stopped being the consolation prize
The bigger shift is how relaxed this industry has become about async. Innovate QA 2026 sessions launched on demand at midnight Pacific Time on August 10, so attendees work through talks whenever suits them instead of surrendering three days to a live schedule. Add the earlier retirement of some long-running online events and the direction is obvious: "conference" now often means a content library you pick at over weeks, not a date you defend on your calendar.
What this means for your training budget
- One flagship, one regional. A EuroSTAR-scale event for strategic exposure plus a nearby regional summit for cheaper, more frequent touchpoints covers most of what a team needs without spending the whole line item on airfare.
- Take on-demand seriously. When travel approval is slow or unlikely, libraries like Innovate QA's get the content to individual contributors with no business case for a plane ticket attached.
- Read the agendas, not the venues. AI-assisted test generation, agentic testing and test data practices dominate the session titles at nearly every event on this list, a useful steer for your team's learning plan even if nobody leaves the office.
Nothing here beats practice at your own desk. But with this many events chasing the same budget line, choose the one that lands on your team's actual skill gaps instead of the one with the biggest sponsor booth.
